Ryan Star Stars

Singer/songwriter Ryan Star performed at Edinboro University on Thursday, November 9, 2006. An enthusiastic crowd estimated at over four hundred was wowed by his soul wrenching solo offerings. Star played the piano and guitar to accompany his unique blend of pop ballads.

Prior to the start of the concert, Star held a meet and greet for local fans. Not the stereotypical rock star, Ryan Star is a down to earth, likeable guy, who seems to revel in the opportunity to rub elbows with his true fans. His music touches people where they live, which seems to form a bond between he and them.

The highly successful event was set up by Carla Behr, Edinboro University employee and Journalism major.

Andy Dick Comes to Town

In a coup for Edinboro University, thanks to the tireless efforts of John C. Lyons, EUP staffer and local filmmaker, actor Andy Dick visited campus just before summer break. Andy showcased his first independent film effort as a producer, and appeared in front of a SOLD OUT Cole Auditorium crowd, to the delight of hundreds of students.

While the event was an unqualified success for the on-campus event, Andy got into a fight in a local bar afterwards with his producer. Typical Andy Dick, this garnered mention in several tabloids. Certain EUP officials were reportedly miffed at the publicity.

Parking Woes

A big story over the summer was the implementation of parking regulations. There was some grumbling at the number of sticker rejections due to minor errors in filling out the online application, but in the end everyone who persevered got a sticker. The rest will be ticketed repeatedly.

Wristcutters

The dark comedy Wristcutters: A Love Story played on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the EUP Cole Auditorium. The Director and an actor were present to answer questions about this award-winning film.

Homecoming 2006

Edinboro University celebrated homecoming beginning October 6, 2006. The festivities started promptly at 8:05am, on Friday, October 6 with the renewal of my morning coffee. In the past this has occurred closer to 8:30am, but due to schedule conflicts the renewal was moved back twenty-five minutes. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Authors Appeared

The Edinboro University Bookstore  hosted its Annual Authors of Autumn on Friday, October 6, 2006 from 2:30 - 5:30pm. Five local authors showcased their work, answered questions, and directed students to the refreshment table.

Unfortunately, the refreshment table was either stolen or misplaced, rendering the hungry students comatose.  By the time paramedics arrived it was too late, as the students had fully recovered.

No investigations are expected.

Pilot Program Announced

A pilot program was recently implemented at EUP involving various staff members. If successful, the program may be extended beyond its original parameters, possibly including others. Leadership elements hope that this will lead to additional actions, and may be issuing statements regarding continued expectations.

Pilot Program to be Expanded

The pilot program recently implemented at EUP is to be expanded. After reviewing earlier results the management team responsible for related activities announced its findings. While no official data is available to substantiate this, further studies are anticipated. Grants are pending.
